Whenever I remove an English Elm (Ulmus minor var. vulgaris) I always imagine how big these indigenous species used to get and how many there were on island. I only remember them as boy as I missed out on climbing them as the “Dutch Elm Disease” arrived on Guernsey’s shores years before I became a Tree surgeon.

Spring Buds and Forest Bathing

The sun has been shining giving the sea that inviting turquoise colour and the complimenting sound of the gentle waves rolling in has tempted me in for a refreshing dip on some of our south coast beaches.  The smell of the flowers and hearing the various birds singing on the walks really puts me in a relaxed state.
