Crown reduction

What is a crown reduction?

Also known as a canopy reduction, crown reductions reduce the height and spread of the entire tree, generally by no more than 30%. It is a useful technique to reduce the height for trees of all sizes and leaves a more natural looking finish than a pollard.

It is a really useful treatment for trees getting too large which are also prone to the strong coastal winds we are subject to here in Guernsey. A reduction can significantly relieve the stresses the tree is put under and can prevent a future structural failure from occurring due to these extreme environmental forces allowing the tree to prosper for many years.
