Crown thinning
What is crown thinning?
Crown thinning is the removal of small live branches throughout the canopy to provide an even density of foliage and a well spaced branch structure. During this process all crossing, weak or dead branches are removed to improve the vitality of the tree. This makes the tree safer in strong winds and allows more light to penetrate through the canopy.
Fruit trees benefit from this practice as it encourages them to bear more fruit and flourish.
